How To Be a Dreamer

Hey loves!

“Get excited and enthusiastic about your own dream. This excitement is like a forest fire—you can smell it, taste it, and see it from a mile away”.

Denis Waitley

This month has been a rollercoaster on my blog and in my personal life. I have not been consistent in any area what so ever this month. I don’t know what’s up but the month of April, but it has been my least favorite of this month! When trying to find the silver lining in this less than perfect I came up with an idea for a blogging series. This series is all about dreaming, achieving, and reaching success in whatever your heart desires. We will start this series off simple with learning how to be a dreamer.

How To Be a Dreamer

  1. Dream with no limits. Don’t put a cap on your imagination. Dream as if you were a kid and anything is possible. Stay optimistic and curious because you might be the one to make the impossible possible.
  2. Make your dreams visual. Every year I make a visual board of what I want the year to look like. Visualizing your dreams on paper make them seem more achievable. It’s like a blueprint. Architects don’t start building without a plan so why should you?
  3. Don’t think about other people’s opinions. The first way to kill an idea, theory, dream or even food suggestion is to ask someone their opinion. If you have your mind made up trust yourself and trust the path that you are on. If you ever find yourself a little unsure of what to do go for a run, or a walk to clear your before you make a decision.
  4. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Sometimes you have to doggy paddle into your dreams to make them into a reality. Nothing worth having happens in a blink of an eye. Great things take time and a boatload of hard work!

xoxo,

Asya

Why Eat Meat When You Can Enjoy The Same Products Meatless

Hey loves!

In the newly released April issue of Spotlight magazine, there was a featured section about meat alternatives. You’d be surprised at how many options there are for vegans and vegetarians when it comes to protein. When I first started my vegetarian journey I just thought tofu was the only source of nonmeat product that I can consume. Slowly I learned of vegan and vegetarian brands that catered to my former carnivorous life without the same harm and with no meat either. It’s the best of both worlds!

Why Eat Meat When You Can Enjoy The Same Products Meatless

Gardein

This brand has been a great find. I still get to enjoy having ground beef, meatballs, and tenders. Of course, this is all meatless and taste amazing. I was a little skeptical when I first bought these products. The products that I have tried from this line has been enjoyed without any allergic reaction.

Tofu

Like meat, tofu needs to be seasoned to be enjoyed. One of my favorite ingredients to throw into my tofu when cooking is hot sauce! I also what bought tofu that has the seasoning that comes with. Either way, cooked tofu has never been a let down for me.

Spotlight April 2018: Health & Wellness Essentials

Hey loves!

This issue of Spotlight is lowkey one of the best issues that I have put together! Sadly this issue wasn’t a collaborative effort because I wanted this issue to focus on Health & Wellness of the planet. April is the month of where Earth day is present. I am grateful to be able to shine a light on this important issue that we all face. I hope you all are enjoying the Spotlight magazine issues that I am putting together. I have so much fun creating theses and look forward to making a lot more in the future. The future issues will feature more controversial topics, some collab, and always a style section!

Curly Hair Essentials

Hey loves!

For every hair type, there are certain essentials required to keep their hair beautiful. When it comes to having curly hair a good amount of essentials ae needed to keep hair from getting dry and becoming a tangled mess. In the years that I have been doing my hair, I have noticed these products and tools have worked for me. If you have curly hair I highly recommend you check these products out!

Curly Hair Essentials

Double Sided Edge Brush/Comb

img_2643

This tool is a given! Every curly girl wants their edges to be laid. Scratch that every curly girl needs her edges laid! I bought this combo of double-sided edge brush/ comb from Amazon. With this tool, my edges look amazing.

To purchase Double Sided Edge Brush/ Comb: MayaBeauty Double Sided Edge Control Hair Brush Comb Combo Pack 2 Pieces Pink and Black

Gel

img_1332

This product is one of my go too. My favorite gel is gorilla snot gel because there is no flaking in my hair, this gel lays my hair down, and it is very affordable. If you are a curly girl looking for some amazing gel I would say try this product and see if it works for your hair like it does mine.

To purchase Gorilla Snot Gel: Moco de Gorila Estilo Punk Extreme Hold Gel 11.9 oz (340g)

Denman Brush

img_2647

I talked about this brush a little bit when I shared my wash day routine with you all. Thia tool has easily become my favorite detangling tool. After using this brush on my hair my curls become even more defined.

To purchase Denman Brush: Denman Cushion Brush Nylon Bristles, 9-Row

Double Sided Brush

img_2644

The double sided brush is perfect for when I am putting my hair in buns or any hairstyle where my hair isn’t down. I liked the fact that this brush has a hard bristle side and a soft bristle side. The hard bristle side is the best for laying my hair back in sleek hairstyles.

To purchase Double Sided Brush: Kent – CC20 Cherry Wood Natural Bristle Clothes Brush, Double Sided

Wide Tooth Comb

img_2646

This is another one of my favorite detangling products. I use to hate detangling my hair with a comb because I thought it was too time-consuming but this comb changed my mind. The fact that the tooths of the comb are so wide help gets more tangles out of my hair faster. I use this tool before I use the Denman brush on my hair for maximum detangled hair.

To purchase Wide Tooth Comb: Conair Anti-static Detangling Comb, Colors may vary

Spray Bottle

img_2649

Any curly girl knows it’s better to do your hair when it’s wet because if not it is borderline impossible to work with. I bought the spray bottle from Amazon and would say it is worth the purchase. This spray bottle has the longest spray I have ever seen.

To purchase Spray Bottle: XHI Professional Works Magic Aero Mist Spray Bottle, 10 Ounce

Rattail Comb

img_2645

This tool comes in handy when my hair needs to be part before I am about to detangle it or put my hair up in a certain hairstyle. Rattail comb is an OG curly hair essential every curly girl should have in her styling tools.

She Believed…

Hey loves!

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

-Audrey Hepburn

I saw this quote while scrolling through Tumblr and it really struck me when I read it. I have always admired Audrey Hepburn and her philanthropic efforts in the world. I aspire to do the same with my various platforms.

In this look, I’m going for business casual attire. It is extremely chilly in the ATL which is surprising because it is the middle of April. This week alone I have been dressing in a more fall wardrobe than a spring one.

What am I wearing?

Shirt: Forever 21

Skirt: Unknown

Jacket: Forever 21 Men

Shoes: Unknown

Makeup: Bare Minerals Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, Anastasia Dipbrow, Bare Mineral Volumizing Mascara, Bare Minerals Eyeliner, Bare Mineral Lipgloss, and Profusion Eye Shadow & Highlight.

Asya Alert

Hey loves!

I haven’t stuck to my everyday writing schedule for the past couple of days and for that I do apologize. In my most recent Instagram, I posted a picture of me speaking at a corporate event to a group of teens and young adults. I captioned the picture “be the change you want to see in the world”. If you have been following my blog for a while now you would know that is a phrase I take very seriously. I am not much of a talker in the complaining sense because of the one thing the world needs less of is hot air. I try to take action and trust in the word of God that things will come through and in His Will will be foreseen.

Food for Thought…

These are the questions I proposed on my Instagram and I will do the same this platform. What is something you all are passionate about? And lastly, if you can change anything in the world what would it be?

Ps. My blogging schedule will continue as regular again starting tomorrow 😊

Signing out dangerously fierce,

A 💋

My Favorite Social Media

Hey loves!

I truly believe that social media is a powerful tool that can be used to better one’s self. After returning home from the mission trip that I went on at the end of 2017 I learn the true purpose of what it means to be in a community. Immediately after watching a sermon from my church about the natural disasters that rocked parts of the nation I told my mom that I wanted to leave home and help out. I had no idea what I would be getting myself into but I knew I wanted to help out. Similar to me leaving home to help out complete strangers who lost their whole world due to natural occurs. People all around the world are willing to help out. I have experienced first hand the kindness of others in real life, but also on social media. Social media gets a bad rap due to the negativity being louder than positivity sometimes. The platform I have seen and experienced the most random acts of kindness has to be Instagram and that’s why it is my favorite app!

My Favorite Social Media

Through Instagram, I have met some amazing bloggers, influencers, and just plain ole great spirits. I kid you not it goes down in the DM’s. Collaborating with other bloggers and influencers start with a purpose. Followed up by a simple DM with appreciation and value. With the help of complete strangers magic starts to happen and long-lasting communities start to form.

Asya Dishing Out The Issues: Hot off The Press

Hey loves!

New magazine reviews are now live on Asya Dishing Out The Issues page. The magazine issues reviewed were a little of all over the place. Some of the magazine issues covered some serious topics in society that need to be more openly talked about. While others magazine issues showcased a more airy, superficial and fluffier side than usual. One thing I enjoy thoroughly about reading all these different magazines is in their own way they are all going against the grain. Whether it be with openly provocative content, candid interviews or helping you in problematic areas like how to addressing harassment with your guy friends.

Asya Dishing Out The Issues: Hot off The Press

Asya’s Dishing Out The Issues: Cosmopolitan May 2018

On The Cover: Boldy standing out on the May issue of Cosmo is a lavender draped Kaley Cuoco. The layout of this is beautiful and back to Cosmo’s signature style. The past two issue of Cosmo has sported different layouts and awkward color schemes. The color scheme picked for this cover is transitioning from the April shower to summery May flowers!

Asya’s Dishing Out The Issues: Essence April 2018

On The Cover: Gracing the marble back splashed cover is the Grownish starlet Yara Shahadi. I am a new fan of the show Blackish which is the mother show to the spin-off Grownish. Grownish follows the oldest daughter Zoey as she navigates college and young adulthood. At times Grownish can be a little messy, but it is not a watch.

Asya’s Dishing Out The Issues: Seventeen April 2018

On The Cover:On the spring fresh April cover of Seventeen is a lavender fringe wearing Rowan Blanchard. If I am being honest I had no idea who Rowan was. I am not much of a Seventeen mag reader but if this issue is a sample of what other Seventeen issues are like I just might have to subscribe to this magazine.

Asya’s Dishing Out The Issues: Cosmopolitan April 2018

On The Cover: The new layout of Cosmo’s April issue has rap’s hit artist Cardi B sizzling the spicy red cover in a peek-a-boo leotard. For the cover this issue I have seen two different layouts. One of the covers is super sexualized and the other is uber focused on the interview Cosmo did on Cardi B.
