Asya Dishing Out The Issues: Cosmopolitan February 2018

Hey loves!

On The Cover: The rosy pink and red-infused cover flaunt a very bold and confident Lili Reinhart. This is was a hard pick for me choosing between Reinhart’s cover or Mendes cover.

Inside the Magazine: This was a really great issue. The articles were phenomenal and well thought out. This issue of Cosmopolitan took me the longer than usual to get through. I even went through it a second time to reread and annotate some of the articles written. Being an avid Cosmo reader I have noticed one thing if the editor’s letter is a powerful and impactful letter than the rest of the issue will follow suit. The letter on this issue did not disappoint. One of the main topics that this issue addressed that was not on the cover was sexual harassment. The magazine even debuted a special section straightforwardly called “How Not to Be a Sexual Harasser (Even If You Think You Could Never Be That Guy)”.

Lili Reinhart & Camila Mendes Interview

I really enjoyed the format of this interview. I also really loved all the cute outfits they had on! The style director outdid himself with those choices. I’m thinking about buying one or two for me to wear during the springtime. The girls were very candid in this interview, which always makes for a good read. The reader could see them from all different angles, not just an archetype.

Afterthoughts: This is a must buy issue! I think you all will enjoy it as much as I did.

Caution District Updates

Caution District has been under alot of change in the small time that this year has been upon us. It has been exciting shaking up Caution District’s presentation. I adored how the last theme showcased Caution District, but the simplicity of the current theme showcases the writings on this platform. This year on the blog I have been trying to focus heavily on the content that is produced. I’m proud to announce that tomorrow is the release of the first 2018 magazine review on Asya Dishing Out The Issues and the launch the non-profit side of Caution District named New Chapter. I am overjoyed with all the projects that will be coming to light in this new year.

As always signing out dangerously fierce,

A💋

2018 Vision Board

Hey loves!

Every year my mom and I make vision boards of what we expect the year to look like for us. This year is a special year I don’t know why, but I can feel it. There will be major moves made in regards to my dreams.

On my vision board this year I have six different areas of my life that I would like to improve upon.

Self-Love

To improve in the realm of self-love I have started to get myself into a consistent routine. I have a skincare regimen of using St. Ives facial wash at night on my skin and in the morning I use my Biore facial cleanser. At night I put a mixture of tea tree, coconut, and two other oils to make my skin glow and decrease the number of acne scars, blackheads, acne and other elements that make it harder to have nice glowy skin. To further my self-love I will …

  • Read the Word
  • Mediate
  • Bath bombs
  • Reading

Health & Fitness

To improve in the fitness realm I go to the gym about four times a week. I start my day off with yoga and stretching out my body. I also watch a lot of the foods I put in my mouth since I am transitioning from being a vegetarian to a vegan. I try to eat very clean.

To further myself in fitness I will …

  • Going to be working with a personal trainer to help me reach my fitness goals.
  • Eating fewer carbs and more veggies.

Fashion

To improve in the fashion realm this year I will take more risks with my clothing options. Last year I took a lot of risks, but still, I felt sometimes I was holding back. I want to be genuinely and fully myself in choices for fashion. To further my improve in fashion I will…

  • Buy more investment staple pieces.
  • Go thrifting more.
  • Step up my shoe game.
  • Do always follow the trend. Make a trend.

Spirituality

To improve in the realm of spirituality I will read the Word on daily bases. I will pray on daily in the morning and at night.

To further improve in spirituality I will…

  • Talk to more people about my faith.

Socializing more

To improve in the realm of socializing more I will hang out with my friends more on weekly bases. It’s hard trying to get everyone together but I will put in more effort this year.

To further improve in socializing I will…

  • Go to more concerts.
  • Do more outdoor activities.
  • Join some clubs.
  • Maybe even join a sports team.

Travel

To improve in the realm of travel I plan to take a trip every quarter this year. Whether it’s just weekend trips away or a full blow vacation I will be on the move this year.

To further improve in traveling I will…

  • Look at Groupon for travel deals.
  • Have a traveling partner.
  • Know the location that I want to travel too.

What do you all think of my list? Have you ever done a vision board before?

xoxo,

Asya

Yes, We Can Do It

Hey loves!

I am in love with the outfit! It is timeless. I can see this outfit worn in any decade after the sixties. The simplicity and minimalist approach that I took styling this outfit were very thought out since it was below freezing in Georgia. This was a layered outfit but in the pictures, I only showcased the based of the fit. This is outfit is paying homage to a modern-day Rosie the Riveter “We Can Do It”.

What am I wearing?

Shirt: No Boundaries.

Pants: Unknown.

Shoes: Timberlands.

Jewelry: Forever 21, Apple & Pandora.

Makeup: Bare Minerals Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, Anastasia Dipbrow, L’oreal Mascara, Bare Mineral Volumizing Mascara, Eyeko Skinny & Fat Eyeliner, and Profusion Eye Shadow & Highlight

Hair: Sleeked up topknot.

Before I ended this post I do want you all to head over to my newly branded style page to see my style over the years. I have posted a lot of fashion content on Caution District and boy I kid you not you can definitely see my growth as I come to myself as a young lady.

Golden Globes Reaction

Hey loves!

My Thoughts

Oprah, you did that! Oh my gosh, she is so amazing. I bet there was not a dry eye in that room at the end of her speech. I felt chills during her speech. I kid you not I was glued to the TV and was picking up every word she was putting down. I felt like the little girl she was talking too during the speech at the Golden Globes watching her make history on TV. It is mind altering to see a woman and not just any woman, but a woman of color in such a power position like Oprah’s. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to look up to boss women like my mom, Oprah, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Beyonce, Kerry Washington Taraji P. Henson and many more. The impact that these trailblazers have in the world when the odds are stacked against them to succeed is breath-taking. I am truly inspired to always dwell in truth no matter what the consequence is because of those women and women like them in the world that do not get the recognition they deserve. The TimesUp campaign is amazing to see come forth. I am so proud of Hollywood for using their platform to help their sisters in other working fields. This is a true definition of “Yes We Can” sisterhood!

Get Fit Now Final Review!

Hey loves!

I originally wasn’t going to write another post about Get Fit Now, but I changed my mind since my views on this gym have changed. My other posts that I have written about this gym on Caution District have been fairly kind and truthful about my whole experience. You all who follow me on this platform know that I am completely transparent in my life, travels, and reviews!  With all that said let’s dive into this disarray that I was mislead into signing up for!

Once I posted my comment on the Get Fit Now Google reviews page I got a call from Lindsay R. at Get Fit Now asking me to delete my comment from the reviews because they didn’t like what I said.

Google & Yelp Original Review of Get Fit Now Gym

I did meet my goal of losing 6 % during the advertised free six-week challenge at Get Fit Now. The challenge turned out to not be free at all since the gym asks for a payment of $500 at the beginning of the program with the guarantee of giving it back to you if you meet your goal of 6 % body fat loss or 25 pounds weight loss. During the six-weeks that I attended Get Fit Now the staff was nice, but the accountability aspect was not there. My mother was my accountability partner during the program. As for the business side of the Get Fit Gym, they need to be taught how to run a true honorable business with communication and not some college ran startup. I feel like Get Fit Now only wants money and nothing else for the clients that attend the gym or the six-week program. It has been a month since I ended the six-week challenge with Get Fit Now and I still have not received my refund. The only thing that I have received was a bunch of calls asking to see if I was still interested in continuing with the gym after I intentionally told them that I would be starting college in January so I don’t want to commit to anything. After getting back from a wonderful holiday vacation I am still dealing with the incompetence of the Get Fit Now staff to process my refund. How long does it take to get a refund? Two weeks is what one of the trainers named Heather told me it would take for my refund at the time of my initial registration “with her” and at my finale weigh-in “with her”. This is definitely “NOT” in my case! I would not recommend this program to anyone anymore. It is not a flexible gym at all and there is no true communication between the gym staff and the clients; only continued advertisement for the gym and what other extra add-ons you can pay for through them. From my experience, I would only recommend going to Lifetime because you get a lot more amenities for a cheaper cost than Get Fit Now or if you are on a budget just sign up for Planet Fitness.

Aftermath of Google & Yelp comment

Once I posted my comment on the Get Fit Now Google & Yelp reviews pages I got a call from Lindsay R. at Get Fit Now gym asking me to delete my comment from the reviews because they didn’t like what I said. I told her that I would not take down my review because not only was it the truth, but it was 100 % accurate in my point of view. Lindsay did, in the end, process my refund on Friday, December 29, 2017 (nearly a month after final weigh-in) from what the owner Emily N. said.

What did I have to do to get my refund back?

Testimony Video

Lost in communication. When I upgraded my iPhone 7 Plus to an iPhone X I didn’t have to video downloaded on my iCloud (bummer). The video was a positive and uplifting video about my experience at Get Fit Now because that was my truth at the time of the shooting of the video.

Facebook Check-In & Google/ Yelp review

I had to do 18 Facebook Check-Ins on my personal account. The Google/ Yelp review is above.

When did my view change?

My view of Get Fit Now was a somewhat positive outlook until my final weigh- in with them. Heather was the person to do me and mom final weigh-in. I meet my goal of the 6% fat loss and my mom didn’t meet her 25 pounds goal at that point due to her struggle with severe blood cancer treatment but Heather dismissed my mom’s weight loss of 13 pounds out of 25 and only focused on my testimony video of my experience at the gym.  At this point, I was taken back at the dismissal of my mom so I was trying to keep my composure and part ways with Get Fit Now gym on a positive note even though it was turning sour quickly. Heather’s lack of compassion or knowledge to her job best practices was the master key to my review and negative experience at the Get Fit Now gym.

Discussion with Emily N. (The Primary Owner)

It was very interesting talking to Emily N. the primary owner of Get Fit Now. I’ve only talked to her over email about my experience at her gym and the business side of her gym. Every conversation with Emily was straight to the point. I was not cutting any corners about what and how I felt in my six-week stance at Get Fit Now gym.  She asked me three times in total to delete my review of the gym. In turn, she would give both my mom and I a free month at her gym and at the end of the “free” additional month she would want us to write another review of our experience at the gym. I told her like I told Linsday that I would not delete the review from google or yelp. I do not need to explain myself nor do I want anything “free” to change my mind. I am not swayed by money at all. The principle of the matter is that Get Fit Now advertises a “FREE 6 week Get Fit Challenge” on Instagram and Facebook… After your initial visit to the gym, they ask for $500 up front and promises a refund at the end of the challenge which is what I expected but was not the case…

New Year Goals #2018

Hey loves!

Life

  1. Read the Bible on a daily basis: I have really dived into bible journaling and I absolutely love it! Studying the Word is very important to me and my spiritual growth into learning more about God. Diving into the Word myself is much more rewarding than just listening to the pastor sermons. No knock at the pastor it’s just better to know the Lord yourself.
  2. Read 30 new books this year: A mind is a terrible thing to waste. I believe that wholeheartedly. I have a few books that I’m reading right now that I am enjoying greatly. Throughout this year I want to constantly be furthering myself in books.
  3. Travel to four major places: I traveled to quite a few destinations last year and I was in absolute bliss. I love to travel and explore new cultures. This year traveling to California and anywhere overseas is on my path.
  4. Don’t wake up and check my phone: In the past month, I’ve picked up the bad habitat of checking my phone when I get up from my sleep. The first thing I want to do when I woke up now is to thank the Lord for another day. Then dive into the Bible.
  5. Workout at least three days out of the week: My fitness has been on fire at the end of the last year. I want to continue my weight and body fat loss. I enjoy boxing, CrossFit, and Zumba. On my social media, my fitness journey will be definitely making an appearance.
  6. Practice Spanish daily: All the traveling that I did last year made me realize that I need to learn Spanish. Spanish is not really a foreign language to me, but it wouldn’t hurt to get fluent in it. I kid you not when I visited Miami during the Christmas break English was not the first choice of language down there. About a good 10-15 % of people I encountered spoke English. That experience and visiting Mexico makes me want to lace my tongue with the knowledge of fluent Spanish.

Blog

Collab with two brands: As my blog has been growing exponentially this past year I feel I am ready to start collaborating on projects with brands. One brand in particular that I have my eye on is Adidas. Not to blow my own horn, but they did say they wanted to work together on Instagram late December. Let’s hope their comment was serious because I was (lol).

  1. 1,000 blog followers: My blog has been on fire lately and would be amazing when I hit 1,000 followers. I going to continue to grind and put out my best content to attract new people to my blog.
  2. Have lengthy blog post: I realized blogging is like a good tv show no one likes it to be too short. I plan to be more thought-provoking in my future content and making the length longer. I will be planning out my post better so that I can fulfill this goal.
  3. Connect with more bloggers: Sometimes I can keep to myself a little too much when I blog. I’ve learned just like in the real world the blogosphere is a very interact place. By not connecting with other bloggers I’m doing a dis-justice. I plan to reach out a lot more to other bloggers and maybe even do a collab or two!

Social Media

  1. Put out makeup tutorials: I absolutely love exploring new makeup looks. I was thinking that it wouldn’t hurt sharing tips and tricks of how I have learned how to do my makeup. Being a newbie to the makeup world I would have a fresh new take because it’s from my perspective.
  2. 800 Instagram followers: Instagram has been my favorite app lately! I learned a lot of new things on Instagram that has made it extremely enjoyable for me. I have gained a lot of new followers which makes me more excited to add more content to that platform.
  3. Take YouTube more seriously: The few videos that I do have on that platform I have enjoyed the entire process of what it takes to make a video. Video editing has become my favorite part of making YouTube videos. I actually am about to purchase Adobe Premiere and Affect Effects which is going to set my videos on fire!
  4. Be more active in all my social media: In the past couple of months, I have started to take social media so much more serious. There are many possibilities in where social media can take anyone because right now the world is shifting into an internet boom.

Fashion

  1. Start my clothing line: This is an idea that has been on my mind for a while now and I feel like it’s finally the right time to get it off the ground. I have a lot of items that I would like to put into production.
  2. Put out more look-books: I put out a few look-books last year and they were a blast to make. Putting outfits together is already rewarding for me in my regular life, but to share it online it was just another layer of growing my knowledge of what exactly I want to do with fashion.

xoxo,

My Adidas

Hey loves!

This Adidas shirt was one of my pickups that I got from Pacsun before leaving to Miami. I felt like I had to have this shirt apart of my collection because it is very unique. I have never seen an Adidas shirt design like this before. The stitching on the back of the shirt is flawless. I have never been disappointed with any item I have ever bought from Adidas because I know the quality is there.

What am I wearing?

Shirt: Adidas

Pants: Luck Brand Jeans

Shoes: Unknown

Accessories: Forever 21, Apple & Pandora

You guys know I love Adidas and sharing is caring so what’s your favorite brand of clothing?

Miami Diaries: Day 1 – 4

Hey loves!

Happy Holidays to everyone I hope you are enjoying the day with your friends and family! My family and I are celebrating the holidays in Miami this year with my mom’s side of the family. We will be in Miami until the first of the New Year!

Hotel

Doubletree By Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay Miami, Florida

The View

We are staying at the Doubletree By Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay Miami, Florida. The views that are seen at this hotel is absolutely amazing! Our room is right on the bay. Like, the Hilton Resort room in Myrtle Beach I can see the ocean from my bed. We are on the eighth floor and the view across from the elevator when walking to the room is spectacular as well. The views really level up this hotel from being average. If this hotel didn’t have the views it has it wouldn’t be anything extraordinary. .

The service

We have been at this hotel for four days now and the service has been okay. Like I mentioned earlier we are right in the bay and with a picture perfect view of the Miami skyline which means this hotel is crazy expensive because of the views. The housekeeping at this hotel is slow and lackadaisical. In my family’s first night at the hotel, we had to call down to the hotel front four times in order to get a microwave in the room. The housekeeping people didn’t deliver the microwave until the second night of our stay. On the second night of our stay, we requested an extra blanket for the pullout sofa in the room five different times and the blanket didn’t arrive until the following day. The housekeeping did not clean our room not once before our four day at the hotel. When all of our concerns were brought up to the front desk they apologized and tried to give us more Hilton points in return for the mediocre service that we had been experiencing. I’m am truly shocked by the service at Hilton because were diamond members and have never experienced this before. We still have a few days left on our trip hopefully the Doubletree will redeem themselves in the hospitality department of this hotel.

Food

I am not going to mention all of our meals because some of them we eat at chain restaurants and for some go the meals I forgot to take some pictures.

Breakfast

For breakfast, we have three different restaurants that we can choose from to eat. The first one is a steakhouse, the second is a bakery and the third one is a deli. We have eaten at the deli and the steakhouse this trip and they both have pretty good food. The fresh made french toast has been my go-to for breakfast most days.

Lunch

The best lunch we have been since we’ve been here has been the Hard Rock Cafe! Their cauliflower buffalo wings are crazy good.

We tried a Mexican restaurant in the Lincoln Road mall area named El Macho’s. It was okay nachos my mom enjoyed it more than I did.

Dinner

I’ve been to one of the local pizzerias named Pizza Pazza twice and their thin crust has been amazing both times.

Activities

  • Nail salon
  • Banana Boating
  • Margaret Park
  • Lincoln Road Mall
  • Bayside
  • Iguana watching
  • Shopping
  • And more….

Experience (so far)

It has been a blast! There have been some ups and downs but that is to be expected on a vacation.
