My Revoultion

In my AP Lang class we had to write a paper on something we would start ar revolution on and my topic was the gender wage gap in America. We also had to choose from the document to model our paper after. I choose the Declaration of Indepence to model my paper after. Hope you enjoy reading it(😁).

In Asya’s living room, November 2, 2015

“When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume, among powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature’s God entitle them” (Jefferson 1-4) the nature God entitle woman was to be man’s companion and man’s equal not man’s submissive. Men have ruled in that favor to dismiss God’s purpose for woman; making woman become the target of a cruel injustice of wage gap that was bestowed upon them, by society; specifically man for generations.

The time has come as Jefferson states “We hold these truths to be self evident: — That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights” (Jefferson 7-8) the right woman were bestowed by their Creator was the right of equality with men. That if they see unjust actions they are the ones that need to fight to make their futures secure for themselves and their prosperity. The battle of wage gap has been raging for years now. Generation after generation of woman have been stripped of their rights deriving from the powers of men with tyrant like pride, who are infuriated with the thought of woman achieving success which they, so desperately desire and want to keep. According to the ones who lay down the foundation of law for life today voice “On average, full-time working women earns just 78 cents for every dollar a man earns” (whitehouse.gov 2011) woman put the same amount of time and energy into their work as man do, but get cheated out of the satisfaction of equal reward due to the fact that they are female. The history’s connation of women’s abilities and how woman are to be treated is going to change starting with the destruction of the wage gap hanging over the heads of all woman and future heirs reaching for success. As Jefferson expressed “To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world” (Jefferson 26-27).

Women will not be commended for their diligence in work wage wise as man until the year 2038 in one state in United States of America according to the newly release data (Adams 2).

Women do not only suffer from the loss of money due to the wage gap health insurance as well will less likely be offered from their employer, “… have retirement savings plans, or have access to paid leave, and perhaps as a result, they are more likely to take leave without pay”(Stevenson 1).

Women are the ones to carry offspring into the world; helping the growth of society and are expected to do so with no paid leave. Since there is no leniency for women who are not paid for a leave of absent they have to leave the work force to take carry of their children after birth.

Women’s wage difference grows between men as they both get older; making women choose between a wealthy and cushy work life, or starting a family.

Women get fewer promotions and chances to advance in their field than man do because they do not get to negotiate for better terms. According to Stevenson “when women do negotiate, they are likely to receive less than men or be penalized for violating social norms” (Stevenson 5).

Women are working for people who do not even know that there is such thing as a wage gap, New York Times writer wrote “A vast majority of them are fair-minded guys who want women to succeed. They’re absolutely certain that they don’t have a gender problem themselves; it must be some other guys who do. Yet they’re leaders of companies that pay men more than women for the same jobs” (Lipman 1).

Women’s voices will not be deafening to the ear of justice anymore because of the ignorance of social norms, nor society. In the oppression woman had to endure throughout the generations will only strengthen us into a unified cluster of hard working, bold, intelligent, and humble woman. We trust the rest of mankind will mature with the times and stop the separation of genders since we all are trying to better ourselves.
