Candid Talk No. 1
New series talk I’m launching is all about the teen life and what’s it’s like to be a teen in 2016. The series talk is called Candid Talk because the stories I am going to be raw. I don’t like to sugarcoat things. The stories will all be seen from a teen’s point of view (my friends and me) about things we experience. This series is going to be about a 13 post series. My first post topic is on the be about the place where happiness goes to die and that is high school.Hope you enjoy!
I wrote this whole elaborate essay about high school and what it’s like to be a high schooler in 2016. To be honest the essay was crap and so is high school. High school fucking sucks. I tried to look at the bright side of it, but I can’t. I have to speak my truth. High school is not what it is cracked up to be my friends. The high school in movies and books is a glorified party filled with sex, drugs, and all the above. My high school experience is no 90210, or Gossip Girl. In my high school, we are drilled to be R.I.C.H. Raiders. To be frank with you I can’t even tell you what that acronym even means. For me, high school is a wasteland that we go to, so we can learn what the government wants us to. A high school is a place where we go to be censored, judged, and grow. In high school, I have learned so much about myself and the others around me. In high school, I have learned skills they couldn’t teach me in a classroom. In class, I sit staring at the board thinking to myself when the fuck are we going to use this shit. Yes, it is a strong opinion and it’s my opinion. I learn more in the hallways of high school than I learn in the classes. When are you going to use quadratic formula when going for a job interview? Anyone tell and please don’t all speak at once. In high school they expect you to make big life decisions like where you want to go to college, but still, make you ask to go to the bathroom. They want you to succeed in life but give you busy work because they are too lazy to teach. In high school I have learned nothing, but what the curriculum standards want us to know about a subject matter. My problem with high school is there are no curriculum standards in the real world. If they are supposed to prepare us for what is to come why are we not exploring what tributes we have that can change society for the better?
