Confessions of a Habitual Nail Salon Devotee Pt. 3

Hey loves!

I chopped off my acrylic overlay nails for my natural nails! Since December my nails had an acrylic overlay over them. While I love going to the nail salon to get them done I need a break. Summer is the best time for everything natural nails to be present. With that said let’s get into this post.

Confessions of a Habitual Nail Salon Devotee Pt. 3

Summer is a time when we all are outside a lot doing activities and having fun. Having artificial nails, acrylic nails, and even gel nail get in the way of having the best time. I can not tell you how many times I have broken a nail after leaving the nail salon a few days before and it ruins the fun. Instead of enjoying the moment I am thinking about how I need to fix the broken nail ASAP. Here is some reason having natural nails for the summer season is the best decision to make.

  1. Your hands will think you for the breather. Constantly going to the nail salon can take a toll on your natural nails and could cause them to become weaker.
  2. You will save a good amount of money. My mindset right now is all about living in the moment and making experiences. Which you need money to do, so skipping out on your getting your nails will help with that.
  3. You can do your nails at home. Make it a self-care day. Put in a facial mask and draw a nice fancy bath featuring essential oils and bath bombs.

My nail page is located under the beauty tab. Down below are my previous at-home and salon nail care post. Be sure to check them out!

Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask Review

Hey loves!

I have seen so much curly hair bloggers and vloggers talking about this product. I did not believe any of them because the marketing was all about a 1-minute hair mask. One of the curly hair vloggers said in her video that this product could be used as a leave in conditioner and that’s when I was sold! So I went to make my local Target and bought the 3.4fl oz (100mL) sample size of Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask.

Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask + Avocado Extract, 3.4 fl. oz.

After I applied the Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask + Avocado Extract, 3.4 fl. oz. I used my Denman brush to detangle my hair and work the leave-in conditioner throughout my hair to my ends. You can clearly see the difference in the before and after.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoy this product and it smells amazing. This leave-in conditioner is a great moisturizer. I really wished I took a picture of what my hair looked completely dry. I also mixed this leave-in conditioner with Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls, 8.5 Ounce, 2 Countimg_1557

The mix of the two products is perfect for my hair. I am going to finish off this sample and purchase more for my go-to hair moisturizing products.

Curly Hair Essentials

Hey loves!

For every hair type, there are certain essentials required to keep their hair beautiful. When it comes to having curly hair a good amount of essentials ae needed to keep hair from getting dry and becoming a tangled mess. In the years that I have been doing my hair, I have noticed these products and tools have worked for me. If you have curly hair I highly recommend you check these products out!

Curly Hair Essentials

Double Sided Edge Brush/Comb

img_2643

This tool is a given! Every curly girl wants their edges to be laid. Scratch that every curly girl needs her edges laid! I bought this combo of double-sided edge brush/ comb from Amazon. With this tool, my edges look amazing.

To purchase Double Sided Edge Brush/ Comb: MayaBeauty Double Sided Edge Control Hair Brush Comb Combo Pack 2 Pieces Pink and Black

Gel

img_1332

This product is one of my go too. My favorite gel is gorilla snot gel because there is no flaking in my hair, this gel lays my hair down, and it is very affordable. If you are a curly girl looking for some amazing gel I would say try this product and see if it works for your hair like it does mine.

To purchase Gorilla Snot Gel: Moco de Gorila Estilo Punk Extreme Hold Gel 11.9 oz (340g)

Denman Brush

img_2647

I talked about this brush a little bit when I shared my wash day routine with you all. Thia tool has easily become my favorite detangling tool. After using this brush on my hair my curls become even more defined.

To purchase Denman Brush: Denman Cushion Brush Nylon Bristles, 9-Row

Double Sided Brush

img_2644

The double sided brush is perfect for when I am putting my hair in buns or any hairstyle where my hair isn’t down. I liked the fact that this brush has a hard bristle side and a soft bristle side. The hard bristle side is the best for laying my hair back in sleek hairstyles.

To purchase Double Sided Brush: Kent – CC20 Cherry Wood Natural Bristle Clothes Brush, Double Sided

Wide Tooth Comb

img_2646

This is another one of my favorite detangling products. I use to hate detangling my hair with a comb because I thought it was too time-consuming but this comb changed my mind. The fact that the tooths of the comb are so wide help gets more tangles out of my hair faster. I use this tool before I use the Denman brush on my hair for maximum detangled hair.

To purchase Wide Tooth Comb: Conair Anti-static Detangling Comb, Colors may vary

Spray Bottle

img_2649

Any curly girl knows it’s better to do your hair when it’s wet because if not it is borderline impossible to work with. I bought the spray bottle from Amazon and would say it is worth the purchase. This spray bottle has the longest spray I have ever seen.

To purchase Spray Bottle: XHI Professional Works Magic Aero Mist Spray Bottle, 10 Ounce

Rattail Comb

img_2645

This tool comes in handy when my hair needs to be part before I am about to detangle it or put my hair up in a certain hairstyle. Rattail comb is an OG curly hair essential every curly girl should have in her styling tools.

My Favorite Curly Hair Products

Hey loves!

If you enjoyed watching my wash day routine than you’ll love my favorite curly hair products. These products are from an array of different haircare lines and work perfectly with my hair!

My Favorite Curly Hair Products

Moco de Gorila

This is some of the best hair that I have ever used. This gel holds extremely especially when I put my hair in messy buns. I also use this gel to style my edges.

Lotta Body Curl Style Milk

I used this product when I am mostly doing protective hairstyles. This product is extremely creamy yet doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy.

 Miss Jessie Jelly Soft Curls

I love any Miss Jessie product. These products are some of the best product I have used on my hair. The inky downside is these products are really expensive.

Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Shampoo

This shampoo is extremely thick and the perfect cleanser for stripping my hair of all styling products I used in my hair. The cool thing about this shampoo is that the vanilla is very prevalent.

Carol’s Daughter Styling Pudding

This is great styling product that I mix with the gorilla snot gel I mentioned earlier. Those two blend perfectly together when I want to style any of my hair in an updo.

Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner

The best deep conditioner I have ever used! It smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling so refreshed and hydrated.

Olive Oil Incredibly Rich Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion

I use this moisturizer on the ends of my hair. This hair lotion is very creamy so it’s perfect for hydrating my ends.

My Wash Day Routine

Hey loves!

I love my curly hair. My hair is forever growing and expanding literally and figuratively. I have been doing my own hair for about five years now. Before I took over doing my hair my mom was the sole care taker. Through years of my hair, my thing has to be washing my hair. Through washing and caring for my hair over the years I have learned my curls are amazing. I can style various hairstyles and change the texture of my hair by straightening it. Now let’s get into how I wash my hair!

Confessions of a Habitual Nail Salon Devotee Pt. 2

Hey loves!

Back at it again with another post about nails! I just got my nails done this week so be sure to check out my new shape and color on my nail page. This nail page is located under the beauty tab. Down below are my previous at-home nail care post. Be sure to check them out! Let’s dive into this post.
img_3370img_3371img_0073

Confessions of a Habitual Nail Salon Devotee Pt. 2

  1. Bring a nail color from home so you can do touch-ups if an accident happens. This is a big tip. Our hands are constantly in motion so accidents are bound to happen. Bring a nail color from your home to the nail salon is insurance in a way. You’re cover if anything happens because you have the nail polish to replace the damage and save money from having to go back to the nail salon.
  2. Inquire about how much of a difference gel polish is from regular nail polish. If the difference is not that much ask for gel polish instead. Gel polish is more durable and longer lasting than normal polish. The extra few dollars will be worth the spend in the long run.
  3. Know your nail shape. There are several different types of nail shapes from almond, square, oval, and etc. Knowing what nail shape compliments your hands is a major key. Also what shapes gives you the mobility that you desire. I kid you not some of these nail shapes are crippling. I used to get the almond shape nail but I could not function with that nail shape at all. Especially the longer my nails got.
  4. Speak up if the nail tech hurts you! This tip should be a no-brainer but you would be surprised how many people don’t say anything. I have been to many nail appointments with my friends and the nail tech gets a little to close to their cuticle and they say nothing to them. They would tell us in the car ride about their experience. My thing is that your are spending your money on good service, so if the service is lacking tell the nail tech or the owner if necessary.
  5. Don’t be afraid to get comfortable. I touched on this subject during my last nail post. Going to the nail salon is supposed to be a therapeutic self-grooming experience. It’s a time for the ladies to ladies and let loose a little. Let yourself live in the moment and enjoy the massage chair as you get the nail color change on your toenails.

My Current Beauty Favorites

Hey loves!

In the past year, I have really got into wearing makeup. I started watching a lot of youtube videos of how to put on makeup. I don’t think I ever realized how much of an art form makeup truly is until I started to learn how to do different techniques. The main brand of makeup that I wear is Bare Minerals. It’s the brand, my mom introduced me too and I have stuck with them ever since. I feel like this brand is highly underrated. Not many people know about this. Without forth more let’s jump into my current beauty favorites.

Bare Minerals Mascara

This mascara is probably hands down the best mascara I have ever used. Apart from Bobbi Brown’s mascara who also makes great mascara. This mascara brush is very petite and applies smoothly onto my lashes. The lengthy this mascara gives my lashes is bananas.

Bare Minerals Tinitng Gel

This is the only foundation type product that I have ever used on my face. The coverage is perfect for my skin because I don’t need a lot of coverage. What I like best is that this product has a built-in sunblock. I feel like this tinting gel is perfect for someone who is still getting acquainted with makeup or likes a more natural face.

Bare Minerals Eyeliner

The tip of this eyeliner is probably the crispest eyeliner I have used. The wings I have created with this eyeliner is sharper than an edge. My go-to eyeliner used to be Eyeko, but Bare Minerals is definitely giving them a run for their money.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss

I haven’t ever really been a lipgloss wearer until now! I kid you not I wear this lipgloss more than I wear chapstick. It’s the perfect amount of gloss and shiny without being greasy looking. This product is always a go-to for me when I wear silver accessories.

Anastasia Brow Pomade

The only product I use to style my brows! Anastasia Brow Pomade is the bee’s knees. Nothing more to say, everyone, have used or heard about this product before. It’s extremely popular and well worth the money. Where you buy this product buy the clear brow gel as well!

Profusion Highlight

The highlight is the second foundation for me. You can never have too much glow! The highlight I have been using is profusion, a brand that is familiar popular and affordable. Their highlighters are very pigmented and worth the buy.

Asya

My Current Skincare Regimen

Hey loves!

Yesterday, I teased a skin care routine in my post and got some positive responses on my snapchat and my DM’s on Instagram. Let’s jump into my skincare regimen!

img_2054

I started my routine off using St. Ives Apricot facial scrub. This scrub is the best exfoliate that I have used. I have been using this product for about two years. The St. Ives skincare line is amazing for all skin types! I highly recommend it. img_0762

Next, I used my favorite facial mask. It’s a clay mask that tightens my skin for a deep clean. This clay mask is similar to an egg white DIY mask I use to use. I love using this mask once a week.

After, I took the clay mask off I put on my Biore nose strip. I have not used these strips for a while. I am glad there was a Biore sample in the recent Cosmopolitan issue because it reminds me that I need to start buying the strips again for my skin routine.

img_0771img_0772Lastly, in my routine, I used another sample for the recent Cosmopolitan issue that was a moisturizer. This moisturizer is from Olay and it smells amazing! The finish of the product was very lightweight and non-greasy. I would recommend the product and I am buying the full size of the sample I tried. Along with the moisturizer I used beauty oil on my neck to keep it staying youthful (lol).

Confessions of a Habitual Nail Salon Devotee

Hey loves!

My name is Asya and I am a habitual nail salon devotee. I go to the nail salon every two weeks to get my nails done. Going to the nail salon is very therapeutic. At the salon, we talk girl chat 24/7. I kid you not at the nail salon plans are being put into action! We talk about any and everything. Nothing is off limits. Last week we started off the conversation about my major in college and my visit ended with talk about bitcoin. Before I get ahead of myself let me give you some tips to save money when going out to get your nails done. Down below are my previous at-home nail care post. Be sure to check them out!

img_3370

img_3371

Confessions of a Habitual Nail Salon Devotee

  1. Always go to Google reviews or Yelp to see if the nail salon you are visiting does great service. While on the review apps they tell you what previous people said about their experience about the price, service, amenities and overall experience.
  2. Another reason why you should use Yelp especially is that there are usually discounts on there. I’ve told you this before full price is for suckers. If you get the Yelp app and check in at the nail salon on there it never fails a 10-25% discount always pops up for me.
  3. Get into a routine of getting your nails done. By routine, I mean go to the same nail salon whenever its time to get your nails done. If possible try to book the same person every time. It is important to build that relationship. I personally have been going to the same nail salon since I was 16.
  4. Building the relationship is key with your nail technician because you won’t be overcharged. I kid you not in experience the person who does my nails never charges me for anything extra that I want to get. Whether it’s a cutdown, gel on top of my acrylic, and whatever else. I pay the same flat rate every-time of 20 dollars plus the tip.
  5. Don’t fall for the up selling that some nail salons do. When I was on vacation in Miami my mom and I got finessed at a nail salon there. We got our usual which is a petite almond nail shape for me and toenail polish color change. My mom got a pedicure and gel manicure. The price ended up being 160 dollars for the both of us.
  6. Go there with a plan. If you have an idea of what you want you will not overspend on your nails.
  7. Don’t be afraid to experiment. I have got some pretty crazy nail styles over the years. Click the picture below to check them out.

xoxo,

Asya
