How To Get Over Writer’s Block

Hey loves!

I have gone four months strong postng daily content for Caution District until about a couple of days ago. I hit the writer’s block wall and was drawing blanks. I couldn’t think of a single thing that was worthy of posting. So I thought why not turn this into an opportunity to share my struggles. I decided to start a series on blogging since my recent post have been about this subject.

How To Get Over Writer’s Block

  1. Find inspiration in the small things in life. For example, going for a walk in nature, watching a TV show or movie. I find a lot of inspirations in movies especially feel-good movies.
  2. Stop thinking about creating and document your experience. I am doing exactly what this bullet point states right now. I am documenting my experience of writer’s block and creating a series from my blog.
  3. Write down all your ideas, even the bad ones. When it does not seem creativity is flowing you have to look at the situation differently. At the moment of writing down your ideas you may think they are terrible. Hours later with a different mindset and fresh a set of eyes, those same ideas could be just what you needed to jumpstart your brainstorming.
  4. Try to tune out the noise in your life. When creating an environment to cultivate creativity try listening to classical music. Low-key classical music is a guilty pleasure of mine. I even created a playlist on Spotify called classically wildin’.
  5. Don’t over think the content you are producing. Just let whatever flow out on to the paper or the computer. Come back hours or even next day to edit the content on the paper to your liking. I find in the editing stage of content creating is when my creativity is at a peak because it all my ideas come naturally.

Dreamers (Motivational Youtubers & Entrepreneurs) Who Took The Leap

Hey loves!

This post is the fourth installment in the How To Be A Dreamer series. I have been receiving so many positive comments from readers expressing how much this series is inspiring them. For this post in the series, I thought it would cool to look at people who followed their dreams. It is no secret that I love YouTube and have aspirations of being a Youtuber. Content creators and entrepreneurs are some of the biggest dreamers because they risk their entire worlds in the hopes of reaching success and self-employment.

Dreamers (Motivational Youtubers & Entrepreneurs) Who Took The Leap

  1. Gary Vaynerchuck https://youtu.be/AS-ycudM-iw
  2. Refusing To Settle (Clark Kegley) https://youtu.be/isPhOFhv_scBri Hall https://youtu.be/52IyqGfBMCk
  3. LilyLikecom https://youtu.be/6_iVoeFdDGs
  4. Boho Beautiful https://youtu.be/FlSjmCzPiSk
  5. Jay Shetty https://youtu.be/K8BGkoJv6gg

The names above are just some of the few (hardworking) dreamers who are killing the games in their niche online. Most of them started out with one thought. They wanted to be to be free of the mundane singular societal path. They all leaped out on faith no matter how long it took them to reach their goals. That’s all it takes! One leap and a ton of hard work for your dreamers to become a reality like these other dreamers in the list above. I ask that you check out some of the videos from the people I mentioned. I promise you will not regret it at all!

The Four C’s of Dreaming

The 4 C’s of Dreaming

Hey loves!

“The secret of making dreams come true can be summarized in four C’s. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy; and the greatest of these is Confidence.” ―Walt Disney

This series has been doing amazing I am so glad you all find it “very inspiring and encouraging”. Keep your comments and suggestions coming because it means a lot to know that this series is appreciated! The third post in the How To Be A Dreamer series is inspired by the Walt Disney above.

The 4 C’s of Dreaming

Curiosity: I touched on curiosity a little bit in the two previous posts of this series. Curiosity sparks creativity. With creativity and hard work, your dreams can be achieved.

Confidence: In order to sell your dreams to others you have to have confidence! If you don’t believe in your dream or yourself no one will believe. Even if you are not confident in your dreams because of hate or other adversity just fake it till you make.

Courage: I recently watched a Will Smith video where he talked about fear and that’s all that courage is… Kinda. Courage is pushing through the fear, adversity and whatever else is holding you back from pursuing your dreams.

Constancy: I talked about this in the last post “How To Be A Productive Dreamer”. Constancy is key. I can not express that enough even if the content is not good. Practicing your craft every day will make it better. Constancy is apart of the daily grind to make your dream a reality.

How To Be a Productive Dreamer

Hey loves!

In the last post of the how to be a dreamer series, I touched a little upon being consistent when it comes to your dream. Consistency along with other work habits will help you become a productive dreamer. I have decided this series will come out every Tuesday and Thursday for the next few of weeks.  Let’s dive into this post!

How to Be a Productive Dreamer

  1. Don’t check emails or other social media first thing in the morning. That email can wait a little longer. Make the most of your mornings because during that the day is still fresh. Think of the morning work (productive) as a soda. Soda is the crisp, fresh, and bubbly when it is first opened. Not later on.
  2. Stop waiting for the perfect time. No time will ever be perfect for that launch, wedding or whatever dream you are manifesting. Time is just an excuse. Seize the moment you have to make it perfect for your circumstances.
  3. Wake up earlier to jump-start the day. The morning hours are the best time to be productive. After rest, the mind is sharp, focused and ready for the day. For example, think of your brain as your phone that has been charging all night. Once you the phone off the charge it is at maximum ability.
  4. Work in 50-minute blocks and break for 15 minutes. Work and balance are very crucial in the longevity of productive. Taking breaks during work can refresh your mind. Going 100% all the time with no breaks will only lead to burn out.
  5. Use your commute time to work on your dream. We all have somewhere to be every day. In the time it takes you to get to your destination brainstorm ideas. You can record your thoughts as you speak aloud if you have to commute by car. If you take an uber, bus, or train to your destination write down your brainstorms and thoughts. Whether it is via your phone or old school in a notebook. Document the process of to your dreams.
  6. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Don’t rush the process. Feeling that you should be further along and you aren’t? It’s okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself or you will burn out. Adjust your thinking. Make daily goals to reach, so that you can stay on track with your dreams and aspirations.
  7. When working put your phone on do not disturb. Distractions are the easiest way to kill creativity, motivation, and ultimately dreams. In modern society, the phone is undoubtedly one of the most massive attention holders. Putting your phone on silent helps hush the world. In that time of silence that is when the grind needs to be on full throttle.
  8. Reverse engineer every project. This is a tip I learned from watching and listening to GaryVee. My way of describing this term is to look at a successful person in the career or life that you want to build. Break down their journey from start to finish. Use the information you gathered to help you on your journey. Sometimes you have to break down things all the way down to the micro degree in order to process the next move.
  9. Stop trying to be perfect. This is a serious problem. No one is perfect! Stop comparing yourself to others. Just create even it is it bad because you get better with practice. As cliche as this is about to sound every successful person started somewhere and had to work to get their position. Enjoy the process because it will be worth it in the end.
  10. Start your day the night before. I am a little embarrassed to admit this but I learned how to schedule blog post late last year. Ever since I have discovered this feature it has become my best friend. I try my hardest to pre-write post especially since I blog daily.  Starting your day the night before jump-starts your progress because you already know what your focus is for the next day.

How To Be a Dreamer

Hey loves!

“Get excited and enthusiastic about your own dream. This excitement is like a forest fire—you can smell it, taste it, and see it from a mile away”.

Denis Waitley

This month has been a rollercoaster on my blog and in my personal life. I have not been consistent in any area what so ever this month. I don’t know what’s up but the month of April, but it has been my least favorite of this month! When trying to find the silver lining in this less than perfect I came up with an idea for a blogging series. This series is all about dreaming, achieving, and reaching success in whatever your heart desires. We will start this series off simple with learning how to be a dreamer.

How To Be a Dreamer

  1. Dream with no limits. Don’t put a cap on your imagination. Dream as if you were a kid and anything is possible. Stay optimistic and curious because you might be the one to make the impossible possible.
  2. Make your dreams visual. Every year I make a visual board of what I want the year to look like. Visualizing your dreams on paper make them seem more achievable. It’s like a blueprint. Architects don’t start building without a plan so why should you?
  3. Don’t think about other people’s opinions. The first way to kill an idea, theory, dream or even food suggestion is to ask someone their opinion. If you have your mind made up trust yourself and trust the path that you are on. If you ever find yourself a little unsure of what to do go for a run, or a walk to clear your before you make a decision.
  4. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Sometimes you have to doggy paddle into your dreams to make them into a reality. Nothing worth having happens in a blink of an eye. Great things take time and a boatload of hard work!

How Caution District Got Its Name

Hey loves!

If you have read my first issue of Spotlight than you know a sprinkle of how my blog got its name. Even yesterday more breadcrumbs were sprinkled when I started to describe the style evolution I went through. One of the only reason for my blog was to talk about. Click on the picture down below down to see the previous post if you haven’t read them.

Enter a caption

How Caution District Goes Its Name

As I stated in Spotlight the start of my blog was in 2012. In mid-June, I had a dream which I won’t go into detail about, but let’s just say it was one hell of a dream it. The next day I created my blog. The original name of my blog was Caution Fashion District. The first couple of post was not that bad. I was constant for a couple months until school started back in the fall. I posted on my blog off and on until I stop. I stopped blogging for two years. I started back up in 2014 during the summer. I was with a friend and I was reminiscing about how I used to write a blog. Talking to her that day made me really regretful about not blogging. That every night I went home and rebrand Caution Fashion District into Caution District. I drop the Fashion because I did not want to be confined to a box where I could only talk about fashion. Caution District was a step in the right direction. I adore fashion dearly but that realm is very superficial and I don’t want my blog to have that stigma. As Caution District grew over the years the decision to change the name was a defining moment in what could come of my blog. There you have the story of Caution District. Tell me in comments how did your blog get its name!

Get Fit Now Final Review!

Hey loves!

I originally wasn’t going to write another post about Get Fit Now, but I changed my mind since my views on this gym have changed. My other posts that I have written about this gym on Caution District have been fairly kind and truthful about my whole experience. You all who follow me on this platform know that I am completely transparent in my life, travels, and reviews!  With all that said let’s dive into this disarray that I was mislead into signing up for!

Once I posted my comment on the Get Fit Now Google reviews page I got a call from Lindsay R. at Get Fit Now asking me to delete my comment from the reviews because they didn’t like what I said.

Google & Yelp Original Review of Get Fit Now Gym

I did meet my goal of losing 6 % during the advertised free six-week challenge at Get Fit Now. The challenge turned out to not be free at all since the gym asks for a payment of $500 at the beginning of the program with the guarantee of giving it back to you if you meet your goal of 6 % body fat loss or 25 pounds weight loss. During the six-weeks that I attended Get Fit Now the staff was nice, but the accountability aspect was not there. My mother was my accountability partner during the program. As for the business side of the Get Fit Gym, they need to be taught how to run a true honorable business with communication and not some college ran startup. I feel like Get Fit Now only wants money and nothing else for the clients that attend the gym or the six-week program. It has been a month since I ended the six-week challenge with Get Fit Now and I still have not received my refund. The only thing that I have received was a bunch of calls asking to see if I was still interested in continuing with the gym after I intentionally told them that I would be starting college in January so I don’t want to commit to anything. After getting back from a wonderful holiday vacation I am still dealing with the incompetence of the Get Fit Now staff to process my refund. How long does it take to get a refund? Two weeks is what one of the trainers named Heather told me it would take for my refund at the time of my initial registration “with her” and at my finale weigh-in “with her”. This is definitely “NOT” in my case! I would not recommend this program to anyone anymore. It is not a flexible gym at all and there is no true communication between the gym staff and the clients; only continued advertisement for the gym and what other extra add-ons you can pay for through them. From my experience, I would only recommend going to Lifetime because you get a lot more amenities for a cheaper cost than Get Fit Now or if you are on a budget just sign up for Planet Fitness.

Aftermath of Google & Yelp comment

Once I posted my comment on the Get Fit Now Google & Yelp reviews pages I got a call from Lindsay R. at Get Fit Now gym asking me to delete my comment from the reviews because they didn’t like what I said. I told her that I would not take down my review because not only was it the truth, but it was 100 % accurate in my point of view. Lindsay did, in the end, process my refund on Friday, December 29, 2017 (nearly a month after final weigh-in) from what the owner Emily N. said.

What did I have to do to get my refund back?

Testimony Video

Lost in communication. When I upgraded my iPhone 7 Plus to an iPhone X I didn’t have to video downloaded on my iCloud (bummer). The video was a positive and uplifting video about my experience at Get Fit Now because that was my truth at the time of the shooting of the video.

Facebook Check-In & Google/ Yelp review

I had to do 18 Facebook Check-Ins on my personal account. The Google/ Yelp review is above.

When did my view change?

My view of Get Fit Now was a somewhat positive outlook until my final weigh- in with them. Heather was the person to do me and mom final weigh-in. I meet my goal of the 6% fat loss and my mom didn’t meet her 25 pounds goal at that point due to her struggle with severe blood cancer treatment but Heather dismissed my mom’s weight loss of 13 pounds out of 25 and only focused on my testimony video of my experience at the gym.  At this point, I was taken back at the dismissal of my mom so I was trying to keep my composure and part ways with Get Fit Now gym on a positive note even though it was turning sour quickly. Heather’s lack of compassion or knowledge to her job best practices was the master key to my review and negative experience at the Get Fit Now gym.

Discussion with Emily N. (The Primary Owner)

It was very interesting talking to Emily N. the primary owner of Get Fit Now. I’ve only talked to her over email about my experience at her gym and the business side of her gym. Every conversation with Emily was straight to the point. I was not cutting any corners about what and how I felt in my six-week stance at Get Fit Now gym.  She asked me three times in total to delete my review of the gym. In turn, she would give both my mom and I a free month at her gym and at the end of the “free” additional month she would want us to write another review of our experience at the gym. I told her like I told Linsday that I would not delete the review from google or yelp. I do not need to explain myself nor do I want anything “free” to change my mind. I am not swayed by money at all. The principle of the matter is that Get Fit Now advertises a “FREE 6 week Get Fit Challenge” on Instagram and Facebook… After your initial visit to the gym, they ask for $500 up front and promises a refund at the end of the challenge which is what I expected but was not the case…

Tunnel Vision

Hey loves!

Life is simple, but we insist on making it complicated!

My second job is 10-6 Monday through Thursday including Saturday. Those hours are the rough estimate some days I have to say later if I’m working with a customer. I have to say I don’t mind it but don’t get me wrong… I get a little frustrated at times, but I feel like it is worth it. Have you ever felt like a certain job or role is the stepping stones to something bigger in life’s plan for you? When I eventually get home I give myself an hour or two to decompress from work after that I jump into my third job. My true passion. My clothing line. I sketch pieces into the late hours of the night and research the best routes for success when venturing into a start up a clothing line.  What is your third job? If you could do anything in the world as a start up what would your start up be?

This is where I leave you…
